Before every event

• Know the exact venue address and EMS entrance.
• Locate the AED and verify it is accessible and shows a ready status.
• Locate first aid, water, shade and cooling supplies.
• Assign who calls 911, retrieves the AED and meets EMS.

If a serious emergency occurs

• Stop play and assess scene safety.
• Call 911 and give the exact location.
• Begin appropriate first aid or CPR within the responder's training.
• Retrieve and use the AED by following its prompts.
• Send someone to direct EMS to the athlete.

AED issue: if the cabinet is locked, the unit is missing, the status indicator shows a problem or supplies appear expired, notify the league immediately and document the issue. Do not wait until game day.
