Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Internal Medicine
Provide hands-on nursing care and support physicians and patients in SLMA's Internal Medicine clinic in Houma.
Position overview
SLMA is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse to join its Internal Medicine team in Houma. This position works closely with physicians, providers and clinical staff to deliver high-quality care to adult patients. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates clearly and is committed to a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Room patients, record vital signs and update medical histories
- Administer medications, injections and immunizations as directed
- Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record
- Coordinate prescription refills, referrals, lab orders and follow-up instructions
- Educate patients on care plans and medications
- Follow patient privacy, infection control and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Current Louisiana LPN license in good standing
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with patients and clinical teams
- Experience with electronic health records is preferred
Preferred experience
- Previous nursing experience in an internal medicine, primary care or outpatient clinic setting.
Education requirements
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
License requirements
- Active Louisiana LPN license and current BLS/CPR certification.
